Youtube Ad Clicked On Intentionally
Youtube is pretty sure ad was not clicked on by accident like always
BUFALLO (The Global Edition) – Matthew Andrews (19), a student from Bufallo (NY), reportedly clicked on an AdWords ad pasted over the latest video of his favorite heavy metal bend on Youtube. Student told this is the first time he clicks on AdWords on Youtube, because this commercial was „so awesome, I just couldn’t resist clicking“.
“My buddy Zack texted me that the “Baroness” finally posted their new video on Youtube. Went there straight away but right after they started thrashing, I saw this ad at the bottom of the screen for doggy snacks, and I couldn’t resist. I just had to click on it”, says Matthew, who told that he was waiting for the latest video of his favorite band for weeks.
“Let’s be honest, a good ad on Youtube is a good ad on Youtube,” says Zack, but adds that this is the first time he interrupted a video by clicking on an advert.
Google monitoring center say they are “surprised but thrilled” that someone clicked on an ad with intent, but also add that “a moment like that had to come sooner or later.”
“We notice all the time that a lot of people click on an ad accidentally, when trying to increase volume or skip the video but miss the button by a couple of millimeters. They visit the page for a millisecond and then they close it upon realizing what they did, coming back to the video. This time, however, the user clearly stayed on the website and browsed it for a while, and even ordered some dog food in the end. It’s a major success for Google AdWords on Youtube and this just goes to say that plastering them all over every video is a good move from our side, says Luke Winters, head of Youtube ad placement management.
