Pope Resigns To Pursue Religion
The Pope complained that his job takes so much precious time he could use on prayer, and to contemplate spirituality
VATICAN (The Global Edition) — In an entirely unexpected development, the Vatican has confirmed that Pope Ratzinger will resign in order to have more time to devote himself to faith and religion.
The reasons behind the head of the Catholic Church’s surprise resignation may have come as a shock to the uninformed, but sources close to the Pope say he has been unhappy with his job for a while now, because it takes “so much precious time he could use on prayer, to contemplate spirituality or to catch up with some religious books”.
“Being Pope doesn’t leave much time for faith,” said Ratzinger. “Hopefully I’ll be able to commit more to religion, faith and church in my retirement. I’ve always found those things to be fascinating, and now finally I will be able to dig into it a bit deeper,” he added.
Resignations from the papacy are not unknown, but this is the first in the modern era where Pope willingly decided he needs some time off to commit more to faith, religion, and spirituality.
