BREAKING: Flappy Bird Developer Found Dead in His Apartment
VIETNAM, (The Global Edition) – Dong Nguyen, the developer of the global phenomenon Flappy Bird, has been found dead in his bedroom earlier today, reports the Vietnamese media. The cause of death has not yet been announced but unofficial sources claim foul play was involved due to a large head wound inflicted by a heavy pipe-shaped object. Unconfirmed police sources say that a note was found next to the body with the words “Flap this!” written on it.
“Dong Nguyen has made a lot of enemies by creating “Flappy Bird”. Any one of 50 million players could’ve done it really. To be honest, there were moments when I thought of tracking him down and strangling him with my bare hands”, said chief of police Phạm Guyen Giap.
Authorities have excluded the possibility of robbery since no material possessions were missing, and the spray painted message across the wall saying “WHY SO DIFFICULT” has ruled out the possibility of suicide.
Gaming experts agree that this had to happen sooner or later.
“You simply cannot create something like Flappy Bird and expect that you will be left alone”, says Swedish gamer Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg better known by his online alias PewDiePie. “Honestly, I thought he was killed several weeks ago”, he added.
Earlier this week, Ngoyen decided to remove the addictive game from the Android and iPhone app stores after announcing that “he can’t take it anymore and wants to be left alone”.
